FRANCE CRASH OUT
France's World Cup defence has ended in failure. They become the first champions to bow out of the tournament in the group stages, since Brazil in 1966, when England historically won the most prized possesion in football. Is it an omen? Watch this space.
The 1998 champions were beaten by an impressive Denmark side 2-0. Denmark qualify as winners from Group A, along with the suprising side of the tournament Senegal. England's situation has now became much clearer. If England manage to top their group, they will face Senegal on sunday. If they finish runners up they will face Denmark on Saturday.
