Bemsee Round 5 Brands Hatch GP circuit
Details
The second visit to the wooded Kent circuit, but a weekend meeting and one using the full, awesome Grand Prix layout.
Desite sharing several corners, the G.P. circuit is very different in character to the Indy one. The Indy circuit is quite technical, with a definite "flow" to the corners, while the longer circuit is much faster and plunges uphill and down dale through ancient woodlands before bursting back onto the Indy circuit at the daunting Clearways sweeping bend.
As described for the first Brands meeting, the best place to watch the entire Indy circuit is at the Paddock Hill grandstand. But the wooded sections of the long circuit are worth a hike to see, especially the fast Dingle Dell chicane where the fast boys and girls get their front wheel airborne before breaking for Stirling's Bend.
Again Clearways is a brilliant place to watch the action as its the last corner before the finish and is very long, very bumpy and very fast.
I've just done a track day on the G.P. circuit to freshen up my memory of the track and all went well, except...I broke a piston on me 'Prilia when I ran out of petrol at full chat down the straight to Hawthorns!
Still, all fixed now and waiting to rock and roll!
