Bower not going anywhere...for NOWAdam Bell Friday, May 11, 2001 13:29 GMT

Boss snubs York's Bower bid
Jim Jefferies has turned down a bid from York for young defender Mark Bower, who is back with City after a loan spell at Bootham Crescent.
York were hoping to land Bower on a permanent basis after he impressed during his stint there, but it appears the Bradford boss is reluctant to release the 21-year-old.
Sources at Valley Parade suggest Jefferies now wants to retain Bower's - at least until he reviews Bradford's squad following his summer transfer dealings.
Bower is on relatively low wages and although City are keen to sell their high earners in order to offset the cost of relegation from the Premiership, the word is that he could yet find himself part of Jefferies' first-team squad next season.
That is despite a miserable return to City colours for Bower in Wednesday night's reserve team game at Everton.
The Bantams lost 3-1 but worse still for Bower, he was forced to limp out of the action early in the second half having turned an ankle.
