Busy Blue’s

Bridlington Town Blue’s had a hectic week leading up to the weekend playing 1 School of Excellence and 2 Youth Academies.

Town Blue’s 1 Scarborough FC School of Excellence 2

The Blue’s started the week well against an experienced Scarborough side playing at times some attractive football.

Scarborough took the lead shortly before halftime following some good build up play from the mid-field.

In the second half the Blue’s slowly took control and equalised after some fine passing form the back 4 through to the strikers.

5 minutes from time Scarborough were awarded a free kick just outside the Blue’s 18 yard box which was dully converted to finish the game 2-1 in Scarborough’s favour.

Town Blue’s 0 Hull City Youth Academy 8

The Blue’s fancied their chances in this game following their narrow defeat 2 days earlier against Scarborough.

Hull City however had other ideas and pressurised the Blue’s from the first whistle taking a 2-goal lead in the first 6 minutes.

From this point onwards the Blue’s chased City around Queensgate but the skill commitment and fitness of City showed running out eventual winners 8-0.

Town Blue’s 0 Leeds Utd Youth Academy 23

In their third game of the week the Blues were totally outclassed by a Leeds Utd team that are viewed as the best under 11’s squad in the Country having recently beaten Manchester Utd and Arsenal 9-1 and 5-0 respectively.

The Blue’s had 5 minutes at the start of the 75-minute game in which they contained Leeds before Leeds got into their stride!

Playing exhibition style football Leeds took control of the whole Queensgate pitch allowing the Blue’s no time on the ball.

Throughout the 75minutes the Blue’s were taught a tough lesson in ball control passing and team play resulting in Leeds taking a 23 goal to 0 result back to Wetherby.

On Thursday the squad that entertained us at Queensgate fly out to Belgium to play top European opposition in a European tournament.
