TC Hangs Up His BootsCharlie Mills Saturday, July 14, 2001 21:04 GMT

The legend that was Tony Cottee has officially retired. The 36 year old hit 147 goals at West Ham in a career which spanned 18 years, 9 of which were at his beloved Hammers. Cottee, who supported and stood on the terraces at Upton Park as a boy is hoping to resume day-to-day involvement in football by taking up a coaching or management role at some stage in the future. In the meantime he will stay in touch with the game through TV and radio work plus a development of his journalistic talents. Cotte said of his thoughts; "I'm going to be ticking over doing my media work and after I've had a bit of a break fom the day-to-day involvement of football, who knows what the future holds."
TC broke a record as being the only footballer to play in all 4 divsions, spells with Leicester, Norwich, Millwall and Barnet showing how highly rated he was throughout the Englsih game. Tony Cottee, top man, top player, you'll be missed.
