LATEST ON JAMIE MERRITTJames Gaiger Friday, June 28, 2002 13:45 GMT
I visited Jamie today at Salisbury Hospital. His condition is basically unchanged from the last few weeks. What he did say was that he is would apprreciate more visitors, he cannot have too many! Initially he was not happy to recieve people from outside the family, but now that has changed. He is speaking well and looking forward to visitors. In other words, the excuses you may of had to put off visiting are no longer there!!!
I realise Salisbury is a bit of a drive and everyone is very busy, but please put yourself out a bit for a club member who is in need of your help.
Some people have said they are not sure what to talk about, what will offend him etc etc, and obviously I cannot answer that, but what I will say is that in 20 minutes we talked about football, rugby, babies, the weather,Gavin's back hair and any number of other subjects. In other words talk about any old rubbish, just the same as you do to all your other friends!
Jamie is in Salisbury Hospital, Spinal Unit,Tamar Ward.
It is reccommeded you ring first, but by no means essential.
