Dons running in the Conefernce League in 2002

There has been many rumours going around that The Wimbledon Dons will be going into the Elite League in 2002 instead of the Conference League.

These rumours are NOT TRUE, Wimbledon Speedway Supporters will see Conference League Racing at Plough Lane in 2002 and the management also envisage Conference League Racing in 2003 as well with a look of going up into the Premier League in 2004.

Currently the situation is that David Croucher and Steve Ribbons have negotiated a lease with the Greyhound Racing Association to run Speedway Racing on Thursday evenings for the 2002 season, starting on the 2nd of May 2002 and ending the season in the early part of October.

The Wimbledon management have made formal applications to the British Speedway Promoters Association to enter The Dons into the Conference League.

The Wimbledon Management are in the process of building a team, and will hopefully be signing another rider very soon.
