Molenaar to Stay ith City

Molenaar insists he wants to stay

Robert Molenaar has insisted he is happy at Valley Parade and would be prepared to discuss a new deal with The Bantams in the summer.  The big Dutch defender, who has been in inspired form following his £500,000 switch from Leeds at the start of the year, will be out of contract at the end of the season, prompting speculation about his future. But Molenaar has given The Bantams a boost by declaring his desire to remain with City, despite the club being relegated to the First Division. He said: "The contract I have at the moment has ended and I would like to negotiate a new one if possible. "Other clubs have an opportunity to see if they want me, but this is not to say that I will definitely leave Bradford." Jim Jefferies, meanwhile, has admitted that the influential centre-back is very much in his plans for next season. He said: "Obviously I would like him to stay and his immediate future is something we will sort out in the summer. "I would like to keep the nucleus of the squad together and he has a very important role to play."
