NEWSOME PULLS OUTStevie Gilroy Wednesday, August 01, 2001 14:46 GMT
Craig Newsome, currently top Scotia rider, was forced to withdraw from the British Under 19 final at Poole.
The West Lothian youngster qualified easily from the tough round which faced him and lined up along side 15 of the best youngsters in the country. In his first race Craig was sitting in 4th place made a last bend dash to pass Norwich's Ian Grange. After passing the 3rd place rider, Grange moved out to the wide line of the track and dumped Newse through the fence.
The result of the nasty smash was a unexplainable non-exclusion for Grange and a badly written off bike for Craig - thus ending his challenge for honours.
Man and Machine should have recovered in plenty time for Scotias next match.
