Police entertained Gt Yeldham on a damp day at FHQ. The visitors elected to field and soon had success when opener Mann was caught low down in the slips. Steve Crouch came to the wicket lacking batting practice but soon started to command the Yeldham attack. He and Cowey put on 66 before Crouch perished after a fine knock of 70. Most of the top five got into double figures, but tight bowling from Underwood and Turner kept the police tied down in the final stages of their innings, keeping the total to 154. In reply the visitors found Tampion hard going (10.8.5.3) and at the half way stage of their innings only had 35 on the board. Turner and Hoadley came together and batted well, the latter riding his luck after being dropped. The pair put on 56 but were out close together. Turner to a great catch by Tampion, running 25 meters to hold onto the ball and Hoadley who had a rush of blood dancing down the track and missing the ball, allowed Graves time to stump him. After these two wickets the visitors fell apart. Harwood bowling his first league over, wrapped up the innings on a total of 106
