First half promise fadesby reporter Monday, April 08, 2002 19:55 GMT

Gosport Borough played the in form side of the Southern region this week
when they took on Caversham who had won 14 of their last 15 league games. In
difficult blustery conditions on a bumpy pitch, Gosport took the game to
their opponents during the first half, but could not gain the breakthrough. At the other end, goalkeeper Nicky Cook produced several fine saves to keep the scoresheet blank. In the second half Caversham broke the deadlock and quickly added two more to seal the game. Towards the end Gemma Woodford scored a fine individual goal to reduce the arrears but it was not enough and the match finished 3-1. This week Gosport play their last league game away to Bracknell Town.
