It never rains......Newshound Tuesday, June 19, 2001 15:10 GMT

The heaviest rainfall for two weeks meant a washout for Saturdays' league games, although the third eleven still managed to pick up a maximum 20 points due to Purley conceeding.
Sundays' programme enjoyed more luck. The first eleven paid their first visit to the pleasant surroundings of Shepperton CC. The previous days' abandonment obivously took it toll as the arrived with only nine, one player asleep and one in Hospital with a fractured finger following a nightclub 'incident' !!!
Shepperton eased to 178-5 with Mekwan the pick of the bowling with 2-35. The OIHcc reply got off slowly against some devilish bowling and lost wickets regularly to finish on 135-8. Phil Mountford top scoring with an unbeaten 51 and the Boyzer (Harsharn Puar) chipping in with a rapid 39.
The game finished with sides in good form and by all accounts the teas were by far the best enjoyed this year, enough to feed four teams !!! The highlight though was Sheppertons' veteran bowling Stormin' Norman Turner who despite being 68 is a regular visitor to Bangkok and is getting married to his 34 year old Thai lady later this month. WOW !!
The second eleven entertained British Library at the Wooda. Batting first, OIHcc were comfortable at 33-0 which became 33-4 in four balls !!!! Good ol' Gnu (Graham Hollocks) staved off the collapse but OIHcc were 68 all out. The visitors didn't find it easy going and took over 40 overs to reach their target.
The league programme resumes on Saturday, good luck to all. This is Newshound (bark, bark) signing off for another week. Keep smiling.
