National Theatre gain reprieveAnthony Kelly Saturday, June 30, 2001 15:17 GMT
After a period of Limbo and the resignation of the manager the National Theatre team has suddenly risen like a phoenix from the ashes.
It's been a shaky season for the NT old timers.Hardcore players not in attendance,Jimbo and the Kitchen suffering a double injury crises,Gibbo resigning as manager and leaving his future in the balance, not to mention some very bad results.Currently bottom of the table, the NT was in serious danger of quitting the league altogether. But in recent weeks the team has galvanized itself and has recruited some ex players and a couple of new ones.Mark Mollison and Mike Burle have made a dramtic comeback, and Neil Miller produced an outstanding debut in the 1-1 draw with Kennington Dynamos.Jimbo Peacock has declared himself fit for selection for the next game,so the season promises to finish on a high, even if the team is relegated to the third.Next fixture is against Punani army at 7.45pm on thursday 5th July. The last fixture was a 6-2 reverse for the National,so they will be hoping for revenge.
