UNDER 11's END SEASON ON HIGH NOTEMalcolm Spalding Saturday, May 05, 2001 16:41 GMT
Having lost 2-3 to East Bergholt last week Colts were eager to prove what a good side they are and against League winners Bergholt they were quickly on the attack.
Piers Padmore and Ashley Knight were in the thick of the action and it was Piers who rattled the cross bar early on.
East Bergholt attacks were sporadic but when they did attack Mitchell Bennett and Jon Morgan dealt with any danger.
The teams turned round 0-0 but in the second half Colts again dominated and made the breakthrough when a great cross by William Hearne flew into the net off of a Bergholt defender who was under pressure from Piers Padmore.
After the goal Bergholt came into the game more and Ben Ward had one fine save to make down low at the post.
A good end to the season by Capel Colts, who in my totally biased opinion were the best side in this league, and now its 11-a-side football which should suit.
