ATHLETICS AWARDS DAY SPECIAL!!!

On Sunday 4th August 2002, B'm'th Athletic had there 3rd Annual 6-a-side tournament at Sir David English Sports Centre!

Ten teams foughtr for the Prestigeous Cup which unfortunately has left a whopping space on my mantlepiece!  Lewers Dirty Dozen, by far the best team (in my opinion anyway), ended up walking away with the Cup with Dolph's Terminators coming 2nd.

Surprise entries 'Monday Mix' captained by Simon Percival  came fumbling along in 3rd place.

Lewers Dirty Dozen boasted the a line up that individually swept up the Athletic Awards with only Goldenballs stealing one from under there noses!

The awards night was held at The Old Vicarage again and this time a Cherries player by the name of Tindall came along to hand out trophies, top man (I can't help wondering if all pro's are forced to sit down and have dinner with the McKays of this world) !!!

Clubman cane and went and I didn't have to leave my seat!  I was sure I would get it as I've let you all off so much money in the past, especially Gazza!  Unfortunately, I can't be too dissapointed as the men who won it fully deserve it!  It was of course Mr Mckay himself and Mr McKay Jnr (aka Lewer).  They have both done alot for the club this year and I very much doubt the season would of gone the way it did had they not been such an influence!

Moving on to Most Improved Player - a trophy that had never been won by the same player twice, until now that is.  I give you Mr Graham 'Goldenballs' Martin, top man top player, top achievement. Well done mate!!!

So now for the Top Goalscorer - Mr Jeff Cleeves!

Sorry that was top Own Goal Scorer!!!

Top Goal Scorer did of course go to Richie B. I can't understand how someone can keep putting those balls away so easily, I know what your thinking, a prolific goal scorer like myself would understand, but I can't and don't believe I ever will.  Keep it going this year Richie, there going to be even more vital!!!

So , that leaves the mere Player of the Year.  A trophy won by some the Athletic greats over the years like Gazza, Jason Wheeler, Chris Francis and Andy Lewer (well of course)!  This time though it went to Lewers cousin, Mr Steve Carter!!!  Steve had a fantastic season and fully deserved Athletics much acclaimed Top Prize.  I'm sure I speak for all players on the pitch when I say that you feel a little more confident when Stevies playing.  Unfortunately for us, Steve is not going to be around much this season, well, I suppose it does give us all a chance to win the trophy back!!!

Finally, well done all!!!  A good tournament, a good night and a fantastic season capped off.  Bring on Thursday and lets show them what we've got, we are the "DIVISON 2 CHAMPIONS" after all!!!
