27/5/2002 15:41 GMT  Alex
Rubbish. Are you even allowed into the ground yet? And yes I have lost my hercules type hair style. Am now sporting a grade 2 in preparation for my national service. Any chance of you lot getting back into the prem next season? I think I must be unlucky or something, as the teams I have played for since that season we got relegated have also gone down. And that includes my village cricket team. Oh and Barnsley of coarse.

27/5/2002 15:29 GMT  goosee
Nice to hear from you ALEX!!! I hope youve had your hair cut now?? Oh yeah i guess you wont be going this season DIV 2 isnt it ??? HE HE HE HE .Six points for the terriers i feel .:-)

27/5/2002 15:14 GMT  Alex Varley
Its great to see modern technology reaching the stagnant backwaters of Wakefield. Only kidding. I am however supprised to have stumbled across a website for Croftion AFC. Those of you who have been at the club for a few years will remember the glorious season when I played for you whenever Barnsley were not at home. Let us know when your pre-season training starts, I wouldn't mind doing a bit of extra fitness work over the summer. And I always enjoyed making you all look unfit. varleya@roehampton.ac.uk

According to our records you were not the first team in the Wakefield and district league to have a website, therefore your homepage claim is strictly untrue, As our records show your website is less than three years old, there is a team in the Wakefield and district league that have had a website up and running longer than three years, What other information contained in your website is untrue.

1/4/2002 09:10 GMT  S(old timer)Duffy
Hirsty they were crap at the back and so was the keeper, I'am not taking it away from the lads thou they did play better but come on Hirsty they were rubbish.

29/3/2002 10:59 GMT  Hirsty
Duffy, they were a good team (2nd in the league) and we outplayed and outclassed them all over the pitch. My players responded well to my pre-match requests and 'fought like dogs'. It has not been an easy few months - the boys deserve the ultimate praise.

29/3/2002 10:30 GMT  S(old timer)Duffy
Yes I agree it wasn't a bad win even thou they had Bartez in the net, but lets see what you do again'st a good team? then you can start to cheer again.

25/3/2002 21:49 GMT  Hirsty
Thank you lads for responding in such a positive way on Saturday. (In front of such a big crowd). The whole village is buzzing again!! It must have been one hell of a team talk. 'Who needs Duffy?', I hear you cry!! Well done lads - a proud effort - roll on next game!!

20/3/2002 21:17 GMT  Liz Hirst
I will have a great time with Mickey Mouse on Friday whilst you are stuck at school and don't worry i will still find some homework for you to do even if i'm not there Jason. I might ask the seven dwarfs if they are available on Saturday to try and get the team back on a positive note.Seems to me too much energy is being spent bitching rather than getting stuck in and winning!

20/3/2002 19:53 GMT  jason duffy
have a nice time in euro disney liz. but u should be there in after school pe to help us enjoy your self. n lads watch your positions old timers making a come back!!!!!!!!

19/3/2002 20:27 GMT  s(old timer) Duffy
Sorry I couldn't help you get a win on Saturday Hirsty but it was still a pleasure playing along side you, this thou can't be said for some of the other lazy B"£$!^DS that, I was going to say played but I would be a liar as there just was no effort from some, I'm also gald that someone else saw this, and as for stopping playing thats B*&&"KS as you said there is always a good team spirit and If Iam invited to play next season and you leave, don't forget I know were you live

18/3/2002 08:40 GMT  Neil Smith
Rich, as the saying goes "Don't let the ba*****s get you down". Once the players step over the line that's it. As an important member of the team you have to concentrate on your game and not have to worry about the other players either on the pitch or on the bench. I think you are spot on when you say people are taking their places for granted, there where certain people playing on saturday that where an embarrassment to watch / play along side. The tatics and style of play is fine the players need to listen and repsond to what is been asked of them, i have got a stiff neck to prove it , it's simple. My only suggestions for change would be to have an outfield captain to drive forward your instructions as this is very difficult to do from the goal and I would also have someone on the side lines who is responsible for substitutions, again this can be difficult to decide on when you are in the thick of things as you have been over the last few weeks. Keep up the good work and it's up to us all over the remaining games to "shag like dogs!" COME ON THE BLUES.

17/3/2002 21:22 GMT  GOOSE
Mr Hirst you are quite correct in what you say ,and i fully respect what you have done for the club .It would be very sad if you decieded to leave because i think we can move forward (wipe the slate clean) so to speak and start again .To be honnest i think this is going to be my last season as a player ,which for some people might be a relief and others maybe not .BUT!! I would relish the chance of taken hold of the role as MANAGER and i would love it if you would be my right hand man so to speak .What weve achieved off the field i.e this web site and the merchandise is a great acheivement and i think if we got together and sorted the playing side out things would go in the right direction .Anyway ive put my name forward so to speak and i suppose its up to the other members of the team and your self of course to vote on it .But!!! If you want to give it another go youve got my backing all the way ....GOOSE (player and mate)

17/3/2002 19:40 GMT  Richard Hirst
Dear 'A loyal fan', I can tell you exactly what has gone wrong recently. Firstly, two years ago I decided on the system, formation and tactics that I wanted the team to be playing and religiously I have believed that this would be the best way to achieve success. Hence there has been no change in the teams playing system. What has changed is the playing staff - both in faces and attitudes. We no longer have the players with the desired level of skill to be playing a short passing posession game. We do not have a sufficient number of players with the intelligence or experience to understand the tactics and apply the necessary level of skill. We no longer have the same desire to win - too many players thinking that their positions are safe. What we do generally have is good team spirit - we are a great set of lads and very rarely is there any conflict. Now is the time where I have to reconsider my position as manager. I no longer feel we have the playing staff to play the way I want the team to play. I continue to want the team to play attractive football, but I often think that I am being too ambitious by trying to play a system that we are not good enough to play. I value intelligent comments from experienced persons but I do not welcome secretive gossip from inexperienced and 'below standard' individuals. I do not believe that there is a better way to play football than the way we are trying. Obviously our recent efforts indicate that we are simply not good enough. I must seriously consider my role in the club. Maybe as just a player? Maybe not at all? I would fully respect and support any individual who wishes to take on the role as manager. As the saying goes - 'If you think you can do better........' Lots hope the remaining games this season will inject a more positive ethos throughout the club. Quasi Canes Pugnemus

16/3/2002 11:52 GMT  E.G

Dear loyal fan as Player has said and when I have been to watch there isn't enough guts in the team (apart from Goose)the manager only picks the team its up to the players to justify their selection some are clearly not putting the effort in. P.S Loyal fan and Player wheres your back bone why not sign your comments?

12/3/2002 23:54 GMT  PLAYER
Maybee its becuase certain players have gone and left the club in turmoil. Now theres loyalty for ya .Also becuase certain people are banned and they dont give a damm any more .Also theres not enough guts in the teams perfofmances any more and certain players also looking after number one rather than the team !!!There is nothing wrong with the MANAGER hes a top bloke ,why dont the players start to look at themselves and think what they can do to righten the situation ...

12/3/2002 21:05 GMT  A loyal fan

The thug should be banned for life and hung up by the naggers by the F.A. Only a massive fine will ever be able to make up for the extra money that DAZ will need to invest on new sunbed tubes to cover the scar. The thug should continue in his alternate career as a female impersonator and should never be allowed to play again!

Dear Mr Hirst yes I agree with you your wife is well educated but as for you what a load of balls, don't forget I have seen the teams you pick and in my opinion you couldn't pick your nose.

29/1/2002 22:55 GMT  Mr Hirst
At least have the balls to say who you are. My wife and myself are both very well educated and professional people and have views and opinions of our own. Unless you have constructive criticism as to the way this football club is run, then I suggest that you say nothing.

29/1/2002 15:50 GMT  Old timer
Where's your next comment Mr Hirst have you got to wait for your lass to think of something for you.

27/1/2002 21:09 GMT  Mr.G.Whelan - Emley FC
I happened to be the match on Saturday (26/01/02) watching my son playing on the adjoining pitch (v Slipper). I am also a scout for Emley FC. I was very impressed by the Crofton Goalkeeper. I haven't seen such a talented display in local league football for a long time. Please could you put me in touch with this player as I may be interested in offering him a trial. Many thanks and well done.

27/1/2002 01:43 GMT  GOOSE
Just to say well done too all the team today. Some people say we were under strength but i think all the team put effort in and there was alot more commitment. That to me says alot if we keep on putting it in like we did today we carnt go wrong.WELL DONE TO THE SO CALLED UNDER STRENGTH SQUAD .(NOT)

26/1/2002 11:03 GMT  Mr Hirst
Many thanks for all your valued opinions. If you want a response then I need to know who you are. Remember what I said about gossiping behind peoples backs. To me, these mystery messages are just as bad, if not worse. Have some bottle whoever you are and I will gladly discuss your views, opinions or problems. Mr.Duffy - we are starting a veterans team next year, but your'e probably too old for that! In the meantime, how about re-signing for the rest of the season? We need another big fat ginger defender to play alongside the big fat ginger defender we've already got!

After Saturdays performance i think that the team needs to be shaken up a bit .In my eyes the players which are being picked every week are taken it easy .Maybee because they know that whatever performance they put in they are going to be in the side, just a thought Mr Hirst.......

I am sorry that we have a social life away from Crofton AFC and maybe the previous message from this narrow minded fool is a reason why. My husband is capable of making his own decisions - apart from picking the team on a Saturday!!! Whoever you are - you're dropped!!!

28/11/2001 21:17 GMT  BT - Director of Football
The boys all deserve a great deal of praise, there is a hell of a lot of hard work been carried out, both on and off the park. The manager is doing an excellent job and I have every confidence in him and his backroom staff. This web site highlights how far we have developed as a team. We will carry on building into the future, setting new standards in local football keep up the good work!

27/11/2001 21:00 GMT  Mummy Hirst
Excellent web site which must have taken up hours and hours of valuable and much needed training/team building time! Looking forward to following the fortunes of Crofton Rovers sorry Rangers during coming weeks and would appreciate more news about the No.1 Goalkeeper of all England especially now that he has been promoted to manager of such a worthy team. Sorry to hear Goose's boots are finally to be hung, such a waste of a fine talent. It would be good to hear from team members who have trials and tribulations on and also when sent off the field. How do they cope with their grief?

27/11/2001 18:27 GMT  a fan
Shame to hear about ANDY,hope he gets fit soon.He must be feeling down at the moment.

As the little southern sister of "Englands No 1 Goalkeeper", and having spent practically every Sunday in my entire childhood standing on the sidelines,I am always impressed at the pure skill and poise of Crofton AFC when seeing them play. Such fine management. Keep fighting like a dog big bro.

Re:Penalties awarded to Goose #69 at the Sheffiels Steelers V Manchester Storm game on 24/11/01: Slashing [in car park] 2 minutes. Attempted roughing 2+2 minutes. PS Very nice photograph of grass, Goosey !!!!!

25/11/2001 10:42 GMT  'her indoors'
As a long term suffering football widow I take objection to the suggestion that my 'earache' prevents 'him outdoors' from playing football. You may rank football as No.1, but chaps us women hold the trump card.......football doesn't relieve all your frustrations!! And over abuse of the right hand can seriously hamper your beer consumption. Take heed....pay little attention to your partners and face the consequences!! WOMEN, SISTERS AND COMRADES it's time to fight back. UP THE REVOLUTION!!!

25/11/2001 10:07 GMT  yiddo
When Mr Hirst took over all the players feared we would play boring and drab football, like his beloved Hudderfield Town.Luckily we were wrong.fight like dogs
