Rider Replacement Facility
Role: Second String
If a second string rider is unable to ride in a meeting due to an injury or international duties then their club are permitted to use a facility called 'rider replacement'.
This is when the six remaining members of the team have additional rides to cover for the absent rider. The rider with the next highest average takes one ride and the three remaining rides must be shared amongst the riders with lesser averages. They are only allowed to take one 'rider replacement' ride each unless only the two reserves are the 'lesser averaged riders' - in this case they are permitted to take two or more rides.
