Team news for this week.
Del Beattie  Sunday, July 22, 2001  23:03 GMT

Alan Penman looks like the only doubt this week as he will be working but he's trying to switch shifts so fingers crossed. We really want to keep a consistent team because, if you take away the 2 games we didnt turn up. We have have the following record.
Socceroos Victorious In Amazing Game!
Del Beattie  Sunday, July 22, 2001  22:37 GMT

The Socceroos won for the 3rd week in succession, defeating an unknown team 9-4 in one of the best games you'll see at this level. Straight away you could tell the opposition were keen to make an early impression in their 1st game, but in football terms, unlike last weeks bruisers Madrid. The Socceroos struck first through Andy Swan with a brilliant effort. What followed was a brilliant flowing game with the opposition going for the equaliser , while the Socceroos going for a 2nd, which they got again through Swan with a brilliant Penman assist. Almost straight away though , the other team got a goal back before Andy G put us 3-1 up. The opposition pulled another goal back with an unfortunate goal which hit rebounded off the post, hitting Thornton on the heel then rolling in. The Socceroos hit again though as Swan played a great 1-2 with Beattie - who didnt have a lot of attempts but played great possesion football - then whacked it into the top corner. Just before half-time though the game was pulled back to 4-3 as Thornton made a great save, but they got to the rebound first and placed it into the bottom corner.
Game This Sunday
Del Beattie  Tuesday, July 17, 2001  18:05 GMT

This week, The Socceroos will be aiming for 3 wins on the trot. We are playing at 7.30pm on Sunday against a team who have just came into the league so we don't know their names yet. But you can be rest assured the Socceroos won't take them lightly and will be going out to hammer them in their first game. Chack later in the week for our squad details.
Socceroos Strike Again!!
Del Beattie  Monday, July 16, 2001  22:03 GMT

The Socceroos turn in a proffesional display to hammer hatchet-men Alcoholic Madrid. We were dealt with a blow when Martin Swan couldn't make the game which meant none of us got a breather. Straight away Andy Swan scored a goal of pure class, flicking the ball over 2 players heads, then stroking it into the corner. The Socceroos then went 3 - 0 up with another Swan goal and a debut goal by Derek Beattie, who didn't have the best of games. Madrid then pulled a goal back through their only player who was interested in playing football. Then , Socceroos scored a great counter attack goal involving Beattie, Swan and Penman. There seemed nothing on when Beattie was in his own corner closed down until he heard Penman shout for it before switching a brilliant ball right to him,who cut back for Swans hat-trick. Penman then got a goal to his name, an excellent goal drilled into the top corner after a Swan cut-back, they were soon 6-1 up before half-time thanks to another Swan goal leaving the result a certainty.

Del Beattie  Thursday, June 28, 2001  17:29 GMT

The Socceroos are back in the league. After the whole team being unable to turn up on Sunday due to other commitments, The Champions League decided after 2 cancelled games , to chuck us out. Well we werent standing for that, I contacted them today and told them that it was impossible for us to contact them on Sunday to cancel. Now were back in and the next time we cancel on the day of the game , we're out. Our game on Sunday is an 8pm kick-off. We dont know what is left of our squad either as right now we only have Del,Alan and Andy and if he wants , Steph. We are working behind the scenes to bring in new blood and it could be either David Lynn or Craig Douglas. We'll keep you posted.
