Ellerslie Womens lose a great match

Ellerslie Womens side lost its 2nd game of the season after they got taught a lesson in being smashed all over the park. Ellerslie batted first and could only manage 158 all out off 39.4 overs. Top score went to No.10 Marlana Ritchie with a superb 25* and Susan McKegg 21 also chipped in. In reply Eden Roskill hit 159 in only 21 overs with 3 bowlers all taking 1 wicket only. Its now back to the drawing board for the womans side with only 3 competition games remaining.

Ellerslie 2 day one side played Hibiscus Coast at Michaels Ave no 2 on Saturday/Monday and put up a brave effort to lose first innings but tie the match. Ellerslie needed just 1 run off the last 2 overs to win the match but couldnt manage the feat with some good bowling from Hibiscus Coast.
Ellerslie 2nds Lose 1st Innings but Ollie Magic

Ellerslie 2nd team in the 3rd grade competition lost on first innings to Eden Roskill at Michaels Ave this long weekend but the story of the day came today when Ollie Nation hit a magnificant 137*. Ellerslie batted first and scored 267/9 DEC with Paul Eppelett 52, Jason Malopito 32, James Short 35, Skipper Adrian Tocker 36, Mike Fowler 28 and Debuant Brent Woods 47 scoring the bulk of the runs. In reply Eden Roskill scored 321 All Out with Scott Bell and Adrian Tocker taking 3 wickets each. Ellerslie went back into bat and put on 290/2 in only 36 Overs with Paul Eppelett 77, Jason Malopito 39* and a magnificant 137* from Ollie Nation (which is now the season's highest individual score so far). Ellerslie 2nds have to win a few more games outright to hopefully take them to competition honours. Good Luck lads...
Ellerslie ladies win again saved by Shona Heatley

Ellerslie Ladies kept up that winning feeling with a 66 run victory over bottom placed Howick Pakuranga at Michaels Ave No.3. Ellerslie was in deep trouble at 5-48 when Shona Heatley got to the pitch. Shona hit Ellerslie out of trouble with a magnificant 112 run out with 1 ball to go in the Innings. Helping in Shona's great knock was skipper Angela Hurst 20 and an unsung hero Leigh Burrell in her first season playing cricket stayed with Shona for 12 overs to be 12* her top score. With the ball Ellerslie bowled out How/Pak for 141 in 39.4 overs with Angela Hurst 3-29, Tasi Villi 2-28 doing most of the damage with Shona Heatley, Hannah Joseph, Susan McKegg and Camille Johnson all taking 1 wicket each. A superb effort from Keeper Katie McGinley saw her take 2 catches behind the sticks.

Ellerslie One Day 6A alias The Muppets crushed top side Waitakere by 13 runs on Saturday at Glover Park. It was a day that the bowlers from both sides did the damage. Ellerslie batted first and put on only 73 runs top score went to Dion Chunky Gobie with 12. Ellerslie bowled Waitakere out for 60 with only 3 bowlers used all taking wickets. Michael Heyes 3-21, Dion Gobie 3-29 and Andrew Higgins 4-4 bowled Waitakere out single handed. A superb new role for Johnno Gooday who stepped into the keeping role and took 3 magnificant catches. Skipper Gary Heyes said it took a mammoth team effort to produce one of the upsets of the season. Could this be the start of something great for the muppets - 2 in a row what is next????? Go for it lads destroy the oppostion.

The Muppets Finally Win a Game

Its been a long time coming but Ellerslie Muppets have finally won a game. Ellerslie bowled first and bowled Avondale out for 146 with Kishore Potluri 3-26, Michael Heyes 2-27, Dion Gobie 2-35 and Darrly Morris 2-25 doing all the damage with Pat Holloway taking 1-23. In reply Ellerslie scored 147-3 with Ellerslie Legend Chris Dunn scoring a magnicant 74 and Skipper Gary Heyes 20 doing most of the damage with the bat. Dion Gobie 19* and Mike Heyes 14* finished off the game for Ellerslie. A magnificant win for the lads and news to hand I have just heard the Muppets have beaten the Presidents side today as well so that makes for a huge weekend of Muppet Mania. Well done Lads......

Ellerslie One Day 3B side has beaten Mt Wellington by 48 runs at Michaels Ave No.3. Ellerslie Batted first and scored a huge 274 runs scores to note were - Criag Dunlop 66, Mark Joblin 41, Andrew Findlay 33 and Al Woodley at No.11 with 19*. In reply Ellerslie bowled out Mt Wellington for 226 with Matt Findlay 5-36, Al Woodley 3-54 and Mark Joblin 2-33 doing the damage. Well done lads keep on winning...
Magnificant McGhie Turns on the Magic

Ellerslie One Day 2B remain top of their table after a huge win over 3rd place Waitakere City by 80 Runs. But the story of the day belonged to yet again one of those magic McGhie brothers this time the spotlight was on Karl. Both Mark and Karl are placed 2nd and 3rd on the Mr Cricket Ladder behind Leader Angela Hurst. Karl destroyed the Waitakere attack with a magnificant 81 from just 48 balls and hit 6 huge sixes in the process and then with the ball took 6-15 to gain another place on the Honours Board for the legendary 2B side. Ellerslie batted first in the match scoring 204 with Neville Higgins 28 and Cliff Bailey 26 helping in the total along with Karls 81. Waitakere in reply were humbled to be 124 All Out with Dean Wolley 3-26 and Criag Hitchen 1-28 to go along with the magnificant figures of Karl McGhie 6-15 from 7.4 overs. The total Mr Cricket points gained by Karl were 239 Points in a day a superb individual preformance well done to Karl and the Team. Good Luck next week...

Ellerslie 2nds had a good win in their game against East Coast Bays with the match nearly reduced to one day status. Ellerslie batted first and scored 185 All Out with Muhunthan Poniah 65 Skipper Adrian Tocker 38 and Ollie Nation 33 provided Ellerslie with most of their total. In dismissing ECB for 120 Avinash Saliq 3-15 and Mike Fowler 3-5 and James Reyburn 2-26 did the damage with the ball with Scot Bell and Shane Hummels getting 1 wicket each. A great win for 2nds keep it up lads.

The Ladies magic continued yesterday. After the Christmas / New Year celebrations the girls took back to the field to take on our competition leaders Suburbs New Lynn. Suburbs went the whole first round beating all opposition and took it very hard yesterday getting absolutely thrashed. 2 ladies made their debuts for the team yesterday Shona Heatly (whom has trained all season with the team) and Tasi Villi. Both are extremely good fast bowlers and bring our team strengths to maximum capabilities with an all round superb batting and bowling line-up.
RAINING AGAIN stops all Games for Ellerslie

Well the diobolical weather continues for Cricket Lovers. Another Saturday of rain helps to ruin yet another game of cricket. All one day grades were washed out yesterday as the skies opened up and bucketed down on our pitches.
