Hampton hold us to a draw
Haley Reynolds  Tuesday, April 02, 2002  14:49 GMT

Although we were at home to Hampton yesterday, it did feel like we were away as we had to play at Allen Park. With the grass in need of a cut we hoped for another win! A strong 11 and 4 subs faced the challenge but Hampton were in more need of the points as they face relegation. We took the lead in the first half from a cracking left foot by Ali Hayes, however, it didnt last long and a miss hit from Phil Copley gave Hampton the chance to head in the equalizer. With both teams battling it stayed at 1 all for half time. Within 10 minutes of the second half we gave away a penalty and were now losing 2-1. A substitution made in our defence and we tried to make every chance count as we looked for that second goal. It came but in form of a penalty, as a Hampton player could not keep her hands off the ball in the area. Claire Thomas scoring with a well placed shot to the right of the keeper. A couple of subs made to either side, however the score remained 2-2 as the ref blew the final whistle. We remain sixth place in the league and hope to stay there with a win from our last league game this sunday, away at Stowmarket.
