ABBEY HEY Home Page

Abbey Hey were formed in 1902 in the Abbey Hey District of Manchester some three miles from the City Centre. They were born through the Church Sunday Leagues, then progressed steadily through the Manchester Amateur Leagues to higher standards. They became known as one of the leading Amateur clubs in the area. They won the Manchester Amateur Cup on three occasions during the sixties, as well as League Championships and other outside cups successes.
The present stadium was accquired in 1984, and since then, the building of a new clubhouse and ground improvements allied with success on the field has made Abbey Hey FC, even more well known in the world of football. The club gained success in the early nineties, winning the Premier Division Championship on five occasions during that period the club took a massive step by entering the NWCL second division and gained promotion at the first attempt. New floodlights were erected after hard work by players, officials and supporters.
Playing in a much higher standard in Division One Abbey Hey consolidated their position by finishing just below half way in their first season and are hoping to improve in the 2001/2002 season.
