Chessington Ladies Home Page

Chessington Ladies was formed in 1972 as Molesey and were founder members of the Hounslow & District League ( Now Greater London).
In 1979 they merged with Hampton Ladies and added United to the name. The club had instant success winning the 1st Division Championship and the League Cup in their first season and the 1st Division again in 1980/81. Molesey were relagated in 1982/84 but bounced straight back by winning the 2nd devision Championship. They achieved success in cup competitions and after winning the Russel Cup in 1984 were fortunate to be offered the chance to become part of Walton & Hersham F.C., a non-league club.
Walton lost many experienced players at the end of the 1989/90 season and they nearly folded but a campaign to attract new players worked. Along with senior players a number of young girls showed an interest in playing. The club formed an Under 14's team and entered the G.L.R.L. Junior Division. After two seasons together most of the girls became too old to play in the Junior team so a reserve team was formed at the start of the season 1993/94. The reserves include Junior and senior players and entered the 5th Division of the G.L League and in their first season finished as Champions.
The assosiation with Walton & Hersham came to an end and the club moved to Surbiton Town Sports Club. An Under 14's team was formed in the summer of 1995 and entered the league but had to withdraw due to lack of players.
Season 1995/96 saw a change in the clubs fortunes and after considerable effort by the players and management they won the 2nd Division Championship. Not content with just one trophy, they reached the final of the inaugural Surrey Ladies County Cup. All looked lost when they were 2-0 down against Palce Eagles midway through the second half, but Surbiton forced extra-time and went on by winning 3-2!
Season 1996/97 saw the club competein the 1st division and at times found the going hard, the success of the previous season was soon forgotten. The club ended the season in 7th position with the reserve team managing to avoid relagation by winning the last match of the season.
Season 1997/98 saw the club reach its 25th year, but unfortunately there was little else to celebrate.
Season 1999/2000 sees a new era, with a change of competition and a new home ground. They entered the South-East Counties League and play in the 3rd Division. We were founded as the champions and were yet to face the 2nd Division.
Season 2000/01 was also successful and we came runners up. It was a hard season but we are ready for the season to come and are enthusiastic and confident we can do well.
