BISHOPS CASTLE CRICKET CLUB

Bishops Castle Cricket Club play in the Banks Shropshire League, Season 2001 in Division 3 (Finished 3rd ), after winning Division 4 in 2000, previously also winning Division 5 in 1993. First recorded cricket in Bishops Castle in 1841, the Club was formed in 1896 and has been in existence ever since except from 1920 until 1930, and obviously during both World Wars (1914-18 & 1939-45). The Club plays its home games at The Manor Ground, Lydham Manor, it has played here since the Second World War. The Club had always played friendlies until 1993 when it joined the then Furrows Shropshire League, since then has played League & friendly games, also played in the National Village Knockout until 2000 when we were told we would not be allowed to enter because we were a Town ( POPULATION 1800. ), so in 2001 for the first time we entered the ECB National Club Cricket Championship. In the 2002 season the Club will be running the Saturday League XI, the Sunday XI, and also U-13's & U-15's.
