Opening game postponedGeorge Luke Saturday, August 10, 2002 21:08 GMT
Hurst's opening match of the new season was postponed due to water laying on the pitch just before the due kick off time.
A strong squad of players had made their way to Crowborough only to find that torrential early afternoon rain had put the match in doubt and despite efforts by the Crowborough groundstaff, the referee finally called the match off less than five minutes before the scheduled 3 o'clock kick off time.
Hurst's squad then spent an enjoyable afternoon at Haywards Heath watching one of the favourites for promotion, lose their opening home match to Ifield 3-4.
