Player ProfilesMichele Adams
Michele is the club coach and has taken Cardiff City out of the South West League into the AXA Premier League. An experienced player with 28 caps for Wales. She now spends the majority of her time coaching including the South Wales Schools of Excellence and the Welsh under 18 squad where they recently qualified for the later stages of the UEFA championships. Michele is also the manager of the Great Britain Civil Service Sports Council representative side.
Helen Aitchison
Helen was one of our first players to come through the ranks of our junior system and was at one time trained as a goalkeeper. Last season though she had a spell in our reserves as a forward and has established herself as a ‘first teamer’ this year. Recently gained her honours degree at Cardiff University.
Emma Bridgeman
Emma has been with the club for several seasons, having come through the ranks of the junior section. On the verge of securing a first team place with the seniors, and gained valuable experience last season with the reserves. Emma is a very fit player and last season gained her leaders award by helping out with the mini football section.
Amanda Burgess
Mandy is one of our longest serving members as she has been with the club for nine years having joined at 15. She is enjoying her football again after being out injured for the majority of last season. A robust forward who will give us experience up front alongside our younger players.
Caroline Cooper
A current Welsh International, Caroline joined us last season from Newcastle Emlyn. She enjoyed a successful season on the park and gained valuable experience playing in the AXA Premier League. Living in Milford Haven, and due to work commitments, Caroline finds it difficult to get to training every week, but her commitment to the club is evident with every game she plays.
Samantha Gaunt
Sam joined Cardiff City from Newcastle Emlyn at the tail end of last season. She travels the distance from Carmarthen every week with Caroline. This season we have high hopes for Sam as hopefully she will forge her way into recognition for Welsh international honours Was a member of the under 20’s set up a few season ago.
Ceri Havard
Another one of our players who has come up through the junior ranks. A great club member, an ever present for training sessions and is always keen to help out around the club. On the field has not yet reached her full potential on the verge of a regular first team place. Was part of the Under 18’s school of excellence for two seasons.
Jenna Hopkins
Has been with the club for a number of seasons and another youngster who has come through the ranks of the clubs junior system. Jenna made her debut at senior level in our reserves last season and made such an impact she has pushed her way forward to the first team. Last season’s most improved player of the year and recently won her first cap for Wales at the under 18’s UEFA competition, where she was the competitions leading goalscorer with six goals.
Joanne Jones
Recently joined Cardiff from Welsh league side Mountain Ash. to further her ambitions of playing international football. Jo was recently included the Wales under 18’s squad for the EUFA Championships in Dublin where she gained valuable international experience. At only 15 years old Jo is an outstanding prospect for the future.
Lesley Judd
Lesley is one of our older campaigners and has tried to retire this season, but with a little gentle persuasion is helping us out when required. Les has vast experience from playing international football, and enjoyed last season playing her first season in the AXA Premier League.
Emma Meredith
Another one of ‘Our Babes’ this season at 15 years of age Emma has stepped up from the junior section having been with the club since she was 12 year of age and has won ‘The Junior Dragon’ player of the year award for the past two seasons. Emma was team captain of the juniors and was another of our players included in the squad for the recent Under 18’ EUFA Championships in Dublin. As long as she ‘eats her pasta and greens’ she will undoubtedly develop into a very talented and valuable senior player.
Carolyn Moysey
‘Moysey’ joined us a few seasons ago and is another of our players who travels to play for the club. Every once in a while there is a player who somehow slipped the International net. Moysey is certainly one, a definite loss to England, and what a pity for Wales that she isn’t Welsh! Steps up to Club captain this season, and with her experience, talent and professionalism she is an excellent role model for the youngsters at the club.
Zoe Mendham
Another of our intellectual players! Zoe joined the club having completed her studies at Loughborough University and is now a Maths teacher. She is a another of the clubs qualified coaches recently qualified as a B licence and undertaking her second year coaching at the South Wales Schools of Excellence. Capped by Wales she often spends her summers coaching in the USA.
Becky O’Carroll
This is only Becky’s second year with the club having joined from Teynham Gunners when she moved to Cardiff to take up a teaching post. Made a huge impact last season with the reserves ending up as their team captain. Will fit in nicely this season with the senior squad.
Leanne Pattemore
‘Chuckles’ to some at the club! Leanne was originally at the club as a youngster before the club had a junior section. She left to join a junior club but returned to her roots a few seasons ago. Leanne is another Cardiff player who gained her first Welsh cap whilst playing for the club. No longer one of the younger members of the squad, Leanne has worked hard at her game this season and is enjoying a new lease of life playing in defence is a valuable member of the side and is proving to be a role model to our babes at the club.
Kath Pigdon
Only Kath’s second season as football is not her first sport, she is a currently on the list of ‘Elite Cymru’ as a British Canoeist. After joining the club to help her keep fit, but like so many others before her she has been bitten by the football bug and is now a regular in our first team. If she continues to improve it wont be long before the eyes of the Welsh International Management team are focused her way. Another one of our Cardiff University graduates.
Claire Selway
Claire joined Cardiff City mid way through last season having dual signed with Cardiff Cosmos. Claire is a strong and quick player and it didn’t take her long to establish herself in the reserve section. Hopefully she will be able to do the same in the senior side this year providing she is able to have time off from her new profession in the army.
Julie Sinkins
Julie is another of our players who ‘fell into the sport’ whilst excelling at another. Julie started playing after retiring from the World professional tennis circuit. Although her home is in near by Cowbridge she is currently working in the West Country and like so many others travels to play for the club. A Welsh International tennis player, and holder of many Tennis honours, and would dearly like to add a Welsh cap and Welsh cup medal to her collection.
Rachel Stockwell
Rachel has been with the club since she was 16, an ever present, and has been a brilliant server of the club. Rachel has a wonderful talent and is always keen to ‘show off’ her ball skills. Rachel is also a talented goalkeeper , and has just recently taken over the No 1 slot in the senior team. ‘The Mother’ of the ever growing JJB Sports employees gang at the club.
